Eleanor Roosevelt once said, 'With great power comes responsibility.' It is essential to ensure that power is guided by wisdom and that those with wisdom have the
opportunity to lead.
While the 2024 outcomes did not go that way, many of our results showed growth
and laid the groundwork for the midterms. Take a moment to read our encouraging
accomplishments, led, staffed and funded by the Etowah County Democratic
Women’s Club and friends in support of Etowah County Democrats.
We thank you for your involvement and support. Now it’s time to roll our sleeves up
and build upon our successes and get back to the work of being an Alabama Democrat!
Opened headquarters, September 8 with media coverage & over 150 attendees
Staffed 8 Saturdays at HQ from 10-2 with over 50 volunteers & new faith democrats
Received contributions of $2500 from ECDWC & $7070 in donations from loyal Dems
Established the “ditchdiggercommittee” of 12 women to coordinate the campaign
Distributed 1000 Harris/Walz yard signs & 24 large signs in key locations - $4200
Distributed 3,000 handwritten postcards to swing states
Established new ways to donate through Venmo & QR codes
Held a voter registration picnic in coordination with the sororities of Alpha Kappa Alpha Lambda Eta Omega Chapter and the Gadsden Alumane Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
Conducted silent campaign with sticky notes
Purchased 3 “We Choose Freedom“ billboards in key areas for 2 months - $5400
Held live billboard events 4 times during rush hour with 40 volunteers total 10 hours
Registered new voters & verified voter status on national Voter Registration Day
Donated $1000 to the Harris Walz campaign & $500 to Shomari Figures campaign
Maintained website, Instagram & Facebook page dedicated to promoting EC Dems
Ran 3 campaign ads in the Messenger at a cost of $900
Expanded our database of committed Democratic citizens
Transported folks to polls through “Lift Our Vote”
Mobilized volunteers to target 31 polling sites in the county with Harris Walz signs
Worked with professional graphic designer on billboards, ads & signs (pro bono)
Continued coffee social times on 2nd & 4th Wednesdays
Held 3 complimentary yoga sessions as a thank you to our volunteers
Saw an increase in Democratic voters at 15 Sites
WE CARRIED 3 VOTING SITES:
Wallace Hall, Carver Community Center & East Gadsden.
With a total of 445 NEW Democratic votes.
Plus 230 more democrat voters at Gadsden Civic Center.
