THE SAVE ACT

The save Act is more complicated than you think. Did you change your name?

Requirements to vote under the SAVE Act:

• Even you have a real ID (star ID), your name on your birth certificate must match your driver's license. Do you have your original birth certificate? A photocopy is unacceptable. You must show the original birth certificate signed with the official seal of the state/county.

• If you do not have your original birth certificate, you will need an active United States passport. See the requirements and time frame for passport applications. (You need your birth certificate for a United States passport application.)

• If you're military, a valid military ID and a record of military service showing that your place of birth was in the United States of America can be shown in place of a birth certificate. If born outside the United States, please consult congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/22/text.

• If adopted or a naturalized citizen, please consult congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/22/text.

• The SAVE Act requires American Indians to have an American Indian Card issued by The Department of Homeland Security with the classification KIC. (This goes against treaties with tribes, as each tribe issues their own card according to their own policies.)

Under The SAVE Act, voting becomes a paid privilege. Your driver's license is already proof of citizenship. To require citizens to pay for a certified copy of their birth certificate or purchase a passport is a poll tax. The current price for a passport is $165.oo... who has that laying around just to be able to vote?
